🔼 Sideline Addition. A new face will roam the sidelines for the ODU women’s hoops squad this upcoming season.

Late last week, Coach Milton-Jones announced the addition of Josh Pace to her staff as an assistant coach for the upcoming season.

Pace was most recently the head women’s basketball coach at NCAA Division II Western New Mexico University for the past four seasons. He led the Lady Mustangs to a 10-win season in 2022-23, the first time in six years the program posted double-digit wins. In 2023-24, the team had their best start in eight years as they began the season 6-0. Pace’s team earned a 3.0 GPA or better in all four seasons he was there.

Prior to his time in Silver City, New Mexico, Pace spent four years as an assistant coach at Pepperdine, to include two seasons on Milton-Jones’ staff during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

A four-year letterwinner at Syracuse, he helped the Orange capture the 2003 National Championship his sophomore year. As a senior in 2004-05, he was awarded the Big East Conference’s Sportsmanship Award, was named an All-Big East Honorable Mention and earned a spot on the Big East All-Tournament Team.

🔼 Making A Statement. Two of ODU’s own competed against the state’s best this past week.

Gonzalez, a native of Monterrey, Mexico, started the Open with a one-under par 71 and followed with rounds of 74 and 76 to finished tied for 12th at five-over 221.

Rudolf, a Virginia Beach, Virginia native, carded a pair of 73s for her first two trips around the course. She then turned in a 79 in Wednesday’s final round to tie for 21st with a nine-over 225.

Created by the Virginia State Golf Association and Middle Atlantic PGA, the Women’s Open of Virginia was introduced in 2023 and marked the first time that female amateurs and professionals played together for a championship in the Commonwealth.

The three-day, 54-hole stroke-play tournament is open to all female golfers regardless of membership or residency status and amateurs are eligible to receive World Amateur Golf Ranking points in the event.
