🔼 Aren’t You A Peach. We’re not sure if Ethan Sanchez enjoys a good peach, but we surely enjoy him.

Sanchez capped off a thrilling victory with a 22-yard field goal as time expired to give the Monarchs a 20-17 road victory over Georgia Southern and give them a chance to earn bowl eligibility with a victory this Saturday.

It was one of the best defensive efforts in recent years as the Eagles entered the game averaging nearly 33 points and almost 450 yard per game, but the Monarchs locked down, limiting GSU to just 354 yards of total offense and only 17 points.

Junior QB Grant Wilson managed the offense all day, finishing 17-of-27 with 182 yards, a passing TD and a receiving TD… yes, you read that right.

🔼 Four The Kids. There’s no home court advantage or noise level quite like Education Day.

For those in attendance, their ears may still be ringing after ODU women moved to 4-0 with a decisive 57-38 victory over visiting Texas Southern on Friday.

With over 2,500 Norfolk area school children screaming their heads off, the Monarchs used a stifling defensive effort and other balanced scoring attack to reach 4-0 for the first time since 2012-13.

En'Dya Buford led the way for the Monarchs, scoring 10 points with five rebounds and four steals. Brenda Fontana and Mimi McCollister each had eight points each, while Simone Cunningham and Kaye Clark both chipped in seven points.

ODU has forced 20+ turnovers in each of the first four games and are limiting the opposition to just 44.8 points per game.

🔼 The Smartt Thing To Do - Pass To Stone. The pipeline continues! Norfolk to the NFL.

Stone Smartt… Welcome to the RedZone Channel.

The former Monarch hauled in his first career NFL TD in the Chargers’ trip to historic Lambeau field, taking a pass from Justin Herbert and scampering 51 yards to paydirt.

On the year, he’s played in 10 games, starting three, while having three catches for 80 yards.

🔼 Another Building Block. Four years down. More wins than ever. A bright future ahead.

The ODU volleyball team had their 2023 season come to a close after posting a program record for wins in a season with 14. The Monarchs dropped a three-set decision to Louisiana in the second round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

Junior Myah Conway finished the season like she had played all year long with a 12-kill, 11-dig double-double to lead the way.

🔼 Chart Climbers. Move over T-Swift, we’ve got our own chart climbers right here in Norfolk.

After a dominant fall season, the Monarchs men’s squad had not one, but ✌️ doubles duos ranked in the top-35 nationally in the final ITA fall rankings.

On the strength of their run to the ITA Fall Nationals finals earlier this month, Connor van Schalkwyk and Codie van Schalkwyk finished the fall season ranked sixth nationally. This marks the highest ranked doubles team under Coach Mueller and the second highest in school history.

Cosme Rolland De Ravel and Jakob Cadonau earned an automatic bid to the ITA Fall Nationals by winning the ITA Atlantic Regional last month and now are ranked 33rd nationally heading into the spring.
