🔼 This Brews For You. Two local partners. One powerful combination.

ODU and New Realm Brewing Co. proudly announced a multiyear partnership that designates New Realm Brewing as the official craft beer partner of ODU. This exciting collaboration brings together two local powerhouses, uniting a leader in craft beer and a leader in esteemed academic and athletic programs.

As part of the partnership, New Realm Brewing will produce a series of custom ODU branded beers, beginning this fall with ODU Golden Ale.

Beginning this week, ODU Golden Ale is available in Hampton Roads retail locations.

The two partners share a profound dedication to educating and encouraging fans to drink responsibly.

🔼 Menace In the Midfield. In Turkish, Ece is a popular female name that means “Queen.” For opposing teams, Ece Turkoglu is anything but that to prepare to matchup with.

The ODU midfielder was honored on Monday with a spot on the Sun Belt Preseason Women’s Soccer team, with the Monarchs, who are reigning conference champs, being picked third in the preseason poll.

Turkoglu was a captain in 2022 and started every single game amassing almost 1,600 minutes. A very talented midfielder with the ability to make ODU tick, she is also fantastic in the air and defensively plays a big role on the team. She is often the player who makes the pass before the assist.

Turkoglu had the decisive PK in the semifinal win over South Alabama as she earned All-Sun Belt Conference and All-Sun Belt Conference Tournament honors. She was also named third team All-Southeast Region by the United Soccer Coaches.

🔼 Lets Link Up. Summer may be winding down, but the Monarchs will be busy hitting up the links all fall as the ODU women’s golf program unveiled its schedule for the 2023-24 campaign this week.

One local tournament in October highlights a fall schedule, while the Monarchs will make three trips to the Sunshine State in the spring to prepare for the Sun Belt Championship in April.

🔼 Come Sail Away, Come Sail Away With Me. Today marks a month from the start of the 2023-24 ODU Sailing season.

The Monarchs will be back on the water and preparing to make waves nationally this year!

🦁 ICYMI….

It’s safe to say that there’s some getting to know you parts of training camp for the ODU football program.

Nearly 60 newcomers will be donning the Monarch uniform this fall, meaning half of the ODU roster played elsewhere last season (high school, junior college, another school).

Which ones will be making an impact? Which ones do you need to keep an eye on? We’ve got it covered for you in the latest Max with Minium.

🤔 MONARCH TRIVIA

The 2022 Reigning Big East Champions will be back in action to start their quest for another title this fall in just 18 days.

That’s right, the ODU field hockey team will be off and running on August 27th when they host Delaware, another regional power, in the season opener in Norfolk.

ODU will have a slew of veteran leadership, including grad student Aubrey Mytych, who was third on the team last fall with nine goals and fourth with 18 points.

Mytych is the third leading returning scorer this fall. The question today… who is the top returning scorer for the Monarchs?

🏈 COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 24 DAYS

Nothing better than a local kid shining bright for the Monarchs and that’s exactly what we have in #24 EJ Green.

Green, a Williamsburg native and Lafayette grad, has played in 25 games over the past two seasons, both at linebacker and with the special teams units.

He’s tallied 37 tackles, including 20 last fall, five of which came in the finale against South Alabama.

With such a strong finish to his sophomore campaign, keep an eye on #24 this fall.
