Good Morning Monarchs. Doubtful that Semisonic was played heading into the fourth quarter on Saturday, but that’s exactly what happened in Kent, Ohio.

Battling in the crowded top half of the Sun Belt standings, the Lady Monarchs turned it on to pick up a big win and keep momentum headed into the final stretch of the regular season.

🔼 Closing Time. It’s not how you start, it’s how you finished.

That motto held true for the ODU women’s basketball squad this weekend, who blitzed the Golden Flashes of Kent State in the final 12 minutes en route to a 82-76 victory in the second round of the Sun Belt-MAC Challenge.

With less than a minute to play in the third quarter, the Lady Monarchs found themselves behind 56-46, but turned it on for a 36-20 run over the final 11 minutes to close out the win.

En'Dya Buford set a new career high with 22 points, and also added six rebounds, three assists and one steal to her totals. Simone Cunningham recorded her first career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Jordan McLaughlin also finished in double figures with 17 points and eight boards.

🔼 Midwest Split. When you’ve got a young squad, you’re going to go through some growth moments.

The ODU women’s tennis team had one of those this weekend as the Lady Monarchs picked up a split weekend in another trip to the Midwest.

ODU picked up a 6-1 throttling of Iowa State on Friday, but dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Kansas on Sunday.

It’s been eight months since the ODU baseball team was last in action, but that is finally over this week. The Monarchs open the 2024 slate this weekend for the final season at The Bud with a three-game set against George Washington.

Last year, ODU finished 32-23 overall and became the first NCAA Division I program to hit 100 home runs in a season in three straight years since the start of the BBCOR era in 2011.

That statement has been uttered thousands of times by football coaches over the years and last week, the ODU football squad added some beef to their trenches as the Monarchs putting the finishing touches on the 2024 Signing class with a West Coast signee.

Saturday’s road win at Kent State featured the highest offensive output of the season for the Lady Monarchs.

It was the first time all season that ODU has climbed over 80 points, finishing with 82 in the victory.
