SNEAK PEEK SATURDAY

It may still be a few months until the Monarchs hit the court, but ODU fans
can get a sneak peek into a brand new era of Monarch hoops,
this Saturday, September 14th at Chartway Arena.

From 1 pm - 2 pm, Coach Jones and the squad will work out in front of all fans to give a little peek in what to expect this upcoming season.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Weekend Sweepin’. One thing is for certain, newcomer Tess Jedeloo is making her presence known on the ODU field hockey squad.

The transfer from D-II Shippensburg had quite a weekend, piling up five goals to lead the Monarchs to back-to-back road wins against Queens (9-0) and William & Mary (4-1).

ODU is now a perfect 4-0 to start the season, outscoring the opposition by a tally of 19-1. Up next? A home showdown with #5 Duke on Friday night.

🔼 A Philly Pair. The ODU volleyball squad hit the road this weekend and came back from Philly with a pair of victories.

After battling perennial Ivy League power Princeton to the wire on Friday, the Monarchs bounced back to pick up wins over Loyola (Md.), 3-2, and the host Villanova, 3-1.

Sophomore Elisa Maggi had a breakout weekend, racking up double-digit kills in all three matches, finishing with 37. Leading the offensive attack was veteran Myah Conway who added 40 kills for the Monarchs.

🔼 More Clean Sheets, Please. For the fourth time in the first seven games, the defense of the ODU women’s soccer team flexed its muscle, posting yet another clean sheet on Sunday.

It was the second straight shutout and fourth in the past five games as the Lady Monarchs defended home turf once again with a 2-0 defeat of Longwood.

Rhea Kijowski and Katie Lutz both found the back of the net to lead the offensive attack, while Erin Jones and the ODU defense posted their second consecutive clean sheet.

🔼 There Goes More Fingernails. For the second straight week, the ODU football squad most likely got rid of some fingernails from their faithful fans.

In their 2024 home opener, the Monarchs played a defensive, back-and-forth battle with East Carolina, falling just short, 20-14, as the Pirates came up with the stop on game’s final drive.

Dating back to last season, seven of ODU’s past eight losses have come at six points or less.

Aaron Young finished with 83 yards rushing and a TD, while Koa Naotala had a career day defensively, racking up 18 tackles on the day.

HELPING HANDS

Join the cause!

The annual campus and community-wide Monarchs Give Back campaign is off and running!

As part of the campaign, ODU Athletics reps will be on hand to collect perishable items as part of the food drive that benefit Norfolk Public Schools children that are experiencing food insecurity.

This annual effort not only highlights the University's commitment to partner with the Hampton Roads community, but also shows the care and compassion of our University and the 757 as we come together to provide support.

This year, our goal is to collect 40,000 non-perishable items/monetary donations to benefit Norfolk Public Schools, ODU’s Monarch Pantry, and the Foodbank of Southeastern VA.
