The hype is building as the highly anticipated return of EA College Football is just weeks away.

This week, EA Sports announced the Top 100 players in this year’s game, which features one of our own.

Two-time All-American Jason Henderson was ranked as the #50 player in the country with an overall rating of 91.

🏀 SUMMERTIME SHININ’

One of the best ODU hoops stars in recent memory is getting his shot back to basketball’s biggest stage.

Former Monarch Guard, Ahmad Caver was called up to play on the Sacramento Kings Summer League Roster. Caver was instrumental in getting ODU to its most recent NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019.

After his time in Norfolk, Caver had a brief stint with the Indiana Pacers, playing in one game following a G-League callup in 2021. Since then, he’s been playing overseas, and has made the most of his time getting back to this point. He won the Lithuanian League MVP Award in the 2022-23 season before playing one year in the French league.

🏈 COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 50 DAYS

The prolific offense of ODU has been on the record book for years now.

Since the Monarchs returned to the gridiron in 2009, the Monarchs
have scored 50+ points on 17 different occasions.

ODU last crossed over the 50-point plateau on Nov. 27, 2021 when the Monarchs poured in 56 points in a home win over Charlotte.

You know that 2024-25 year that we mentioned in the opening? Well, it’s just 36 days away!

That year will start with the reigning Sun Belt Champion women’s soccer team hitting the pitch on Thursday, August 15 against in-state rival VCU in Norfolk.

The full Lady Monarch schedule was released last week and is loaded with 10 home dates.

🏀 ALWAYS A LEGEND

Last week, we learned of the unfortunate passing of former ODU hooper Mario Mullen.

Mullen was a local legend and teammates of current ODU head coach Mike Jones on the 1995 CAA Championship team that upset Villanova in the NCAA Tournament.

He earned CAA All-Freshman honors and was named to the CAA All-Tournament team during that 1995 title run.
