🔼 Magic Eight Ball. Will ODU baseball win the series? Magic Eight ball says…. YES!

The Monarchs leaned on the eight ball to pick up the series win over South Alabama this past weekend, posting 8-3 and 8-2 victories in the first two games of the three-game set.

Kyle Edwards went 5-for-10 on the weekend, including hitting one of ODU’s five HRs in the series. Luke Waters went 6-for-10 with two HRs of his own and drove in four runs to lead the offensive attack for the Monarchs.

In the two wins on Friday, seven different ODU hurlers combined to strikeout 23 South Alabama hitters.

🔼 House Protected. The ODU men’s tennis team protected its home courts like someone was trying to steal their Easter Candy.

With visits from Louisiana and Southern Miss on the docket, the Monarchs made quick work of both Sun Belt opponents, picking up clean 4-0 victories in both contests.

ODU has now won five of six and is the only Sun Belt team with five conference wins currently.

🔼 And Another One. The streak lives on.

ODU’s women’s tennis team continued its strong play by pushing its win streak to six with a 4-0 sweep of Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Monarchs have now won nine of their last 11 matches dating back to the beginning of February.

They are currently the only undefeated team in league play.

🔼 Ok Rook, We See You! You know that saying about you only get one chance to make a first impression?

For Tetiana Yevminova, that’s just fine.

The Ukrainan freshman had quite a first season with the ODU swimming program and her efforts were recognized as late last week, she was named the Sun Belt Co-Newcomer of the Year.

In addition, Martina Ciriesi earned second-team all-conference honors, while Kiersten Donnelly, Mary Dunworth and Yevminova garnered third-team accolades.
