🏀 TOURNEY TIME

And the dance goes on.

The Monarchs women’s hoops squad continues their historic season with an opening round bye in the WNIT.

ODU will face the winner of UNC Greensboro and North Carolina A&T in the second round which runs from March 23-26.

The location and time of that game will be determined after the first round is complete. Teams that received a first round bye are not guaranteed to host the second round.

ODU posted their third straight 20-win season and are making their second WNIT appearance in the past three seasons.

🔼 Welcome Home! One former Monarch took the reins of the program.

Now another one is joining his side.

New ODU head coach Mike Jones announced the addition of former All-American Odell Hodge to his staff as the special assistant to the head coach.

Finishing his career at ODU in 1997, Hodge recorded 2,117 points and 1,086 rebounds. He was named to the CAA's All-Defensive squad in 1997 and ranks 14th all-time in CAA scoring, fourth in career blocked shots with 286, and fifth in CAA history in rebounds.

He was named CAA Player Of the Year and Tournament MVP in 1994 and 1997.

🔼 Web Busting. Winners of nine of their past 14 games, the ODU baseball team earned their way into the top-20 of the latest Mid-Major baseball rankings.

On Tuesday afternoon, they lived up to that billing, fighting their way to a hard-fought 3-2 win over in-state rival, Richmond.

Once again, the arms of the Monarchs delivered as seven different pitchers scattered six hits and two runs, while combining for 10 strikeouts in the win. ODU pitchers have now allowed just seven total runs in the past five games.

Luke Waters delivered the game-winning blow as he launched his first HR of the season over the left field wall in the eighth to give ODU the lead for good.

🔼 For The Kids. While the reigning Sun Belt Conference Champs are preparing for another run at a title next fall, they spent a bit of time being reminded of how their love for the game got started.

This week, the ODU women’s soccer team kicked off their Monarch Sisters night, hosting some area youth on the pitch!

🤔 MONARCH TRIVIA

Odell Hodge is the only player in ODU history to score over 2,000 career points and haul in over 1,000 career rebounds.

How many Virginia Division I men’s hoopers ever achieved that feat?
