On season opener Saturday, the Monarchs went on the road and took an SEC opponent to the wire, but fell just short in a 23-19 loss at South Carolina.
Offensively, Isaiah Page had a huge day with eight catches for 115 yards and a TD, while Patrick Smith-Young led the defensive effort with nine tackles, including two TFLs. As a unit, the ODU defense had 10 tackles for a loss on the afternoon.

The ODU field hockey squad got their 2024 season off to a hot start with back-to-back 3-0 road victories over former conference foes, Richmond and Hofstra.
Suus Broers tallied five saves in the two victories, while Sian Emslie and Tess Jedeloo both had multi-goal games on the weekend for the Monarchs.
🔼 Opening Act. Not one, not two, but 3️⃣ ODU squads opened up their 2024 campaigns over the weekend with the volleyball program joining the football and field hockey squads in action.
At the annual Quest for the Crown, the Monarchs finished 2-1 with defeats Marist (3-0) and UTSA (3-0), before falling to ACC foe Virginia on Saturday (0-3).
Senior sensation Myah Conway led the way with 30 kills, while newcomer Hailee Blankenship added 23 kills on the weekend. Conway added 10 blocks on the defensive side, while Katie Kilpatrick had 28 digs in the three matches.
