🔼 Making A STATEment. Just a few days after finishing off a series win over in-state rival JMU, the ODU baseball boys added another victory over a nearby rival on Tuesday night.

In a thrilling edition of the Commonwealth Classic at Harbor Park, the Monarchs jumped on #10 UVA early and often en route to a 7-4 upset of the nationally-ranked Cavaliers.

A two-RBI double from Kenny Levari in the first inning sparked ODU as they jumped out a 4-0 lead in the first two innings and never looked back.

Five Monarch hurlers combined to scatter seven hits and strike out 11 Cavaliers with senior Brandon Pond picking up the win, after allowing just one earned run in 2.2 innings of work.

🔼 Reunited And It Feels So Good. Back in the 90s, the duo tortured opponents on the basketball court.

Now, the two former Monarchs are back together looking to do the same, but from a different viewpoint on the court.

New basketball coach Mike Jones and his former teammate and roommate Odell Hodge have reunited with the ODU men’s hoops program and the pair are looking to take the Monarchs to new heights.

🔼 In The Hunt. And the hunt continues.

Entering today’s final round of the Sun Belt Championships in Point Clear, Ala., the ODU women’s golf squad and its leading lady are right in the hunt.

The Lady Monarchs sit in fourth place overall, while sophomore Lucia Gonzalez finds herself in a battle for the top individual spot.

As a team, ODU is just four shots out of second place, while Gonzalez finished off a one-over 73 on Tuesday, good for a tie for third on the individual leaderboard.

The sophomore from Monterrey, Mexico is one shot behind Hailey Jones of Texas State for second place and two shots from second round leader Daniela Campillo of ULM.

👏 WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT

On the final play of the Charity Bowl Spring Game this past Saturday, nine-year old Ashton Donley scored a nine-yard touchdown. Donley, who has autism, is a participant in the Eliza Hope Foundation.

The Chartway Promise Foundation, the charitable arm of Chartway Credit Union awarded $1 million in grants this year to charity partners including the Eliza Hope Foundation.

The Eliza Hope Foundation and therapy center is a place for children with an autism diagnosis to receive all their therapeutic needs in one unique place.
