🎙 MIKE ON THE MIC

It may be summer break for some, but Coach Jones and the Monarchs are far from taking a break.

Hard at work on the practice courts and recruiting trails, Coach Jones caught up with the guys over at Field of 68 to talk about his return to Norfolk, the status of the Monarchs and what he’s most looking forward to about the upcoming year.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Class Acts. Not only did the ODU rowing squad make waves on the water this spring, they also made plenty of waves in the classroom.

Old Dominion had Sydnee Blackburn, Lucy Brennan, Maddie Enns, Ellen Gortz, Haven Habhab and Bekah Kimman earn the honor from the CRCA. A total of 770 student-athletes from 72 schools were recognized in NCAA Division I.

To qualify, an athlete must meet both academic and athletic requirements, such as being in at least their second year of eligibility and maintaining an average cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Additionally, student-athletes must have rowed in their institution’s NCAA eligible boats for a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or race in an NCAA Boat at their Conference Championship/NCAA Championship.

🔼 Heating Up. Not only are the temps heating up as summertime rolls in, but so is former Monarch Vinnie Pasquantino.

The former ODU star and current Kansas City Royal is a part of one of MLB’s young, upstart teams.

Over the past week, Pasquantino is hitting .364 with two HRs and seven RBIs as the Royals are in the hunt for the AL Central and a major part of the wild card race at this early point in the season.
