🔼 Bayou Ballin’. In the land of Bobby Boucher and Bubba Gump Shrimp, it was Sean Durugordon who stole the show as the ODU men’s hoops squad picked up its fourth win in the past five games with a 71-60 victory over Louisiana on Thursday night.

Durugordon poured in 20 points, including a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe to lead the way for the Monarchs. The Siena transfer also grabbed seven rebounds and picked up two steals in the contest

Freshman sensation Jaden Johnson continues to impress with 13 points, six assists and five rebounds, while Robert Davis Jr. was the third ODU player in double-figures with 13 points.

🔼 Smart Cookies. The season may be in the rearview mirror, but the accolades continue to pile in for the ODU football program.

This week, six Monarchs were named to the 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District Football Team.

ODU’s honorees include Ricardo Williams Jr., Zach Barlev, Maarten Woudsma, Michael Flores, Colton Joseph and Diante Vines.

And he’s not done yet.

ODU legend Justin Verlander will add another chapter to his storied MLB career in 2025 as the veteran right-hander will spend his 21st big league season in the Bay, signing a one-year deal with the San Francisco Giants this week.

Verlander battled injuries for much of the 2024 season, making only 17 starts for the Astros.

The calendar may have changed to 2025, but the focus and goal is still the same for the ODU basketball programs.

Earlier this week, both coaches sat down for the first episode of the “Keepin’ Up With the Jones’” Coaches Show to talk about the season so far and the outlook moving forward in conference play.
