With a combined league record of 8-2, there’s no better time to enjoy some good eats and some hoops insight from our leaders!

The ODU Basketball: Keeping Up With The Joneses Coaches Show is back for its second episode TONIGHT at Recovery Sports Grill in Norfolk from 6-7 pm.

The Coaches Show will be held live on location on Mondays throughout the remainder of Sun Belt Conference play and will also air on either ESPN Sports Radio 94.1 FM or Fox Sports Radio 1310 AM from 7-8 p.m.

Hosted by ODU Director of Broadcasting Ted Alexander, the Voice of the Monarchs, he will be joined by both Head Coaches, Mike Jones and DeLisha Milton-Jones, who will talk about their week and give insight to pivotal matchups ahead for both programs.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Ya Herd? Kelsey Thompson was the starter and En’Dya Buford was the closer for the ODU women’s hoops team on Saturday.

Thompson poured in a season-high 20 points, while Buford scored nine of her 17 points in the final three minutes to help the Monarchs to an 80-75 victory over Marshall. It marked the sixth win in the past seven games for ODU.

In addition to Buford’s 17 points, she had nine rebounds and nine assists, coming just one assist and one rebound short of a triple-double.

Brenda Fontana, the senior from Buenos Aires, Argentina, had 10 points and six rebounds. Fontana has now scored 504 points in her time at ODU. Simone Cunningham had nine points and eight rebounds.

The Monarchs are currently tied for second in the conference with App State, Louisiana, Troy and Arkansas State. App State visits ODU on Wednesday, Jan. 15, in the third game of the Monarchs' four-game home stand.

🔼 Workin’ Overtime. The road may not be an easy place to win, but for the ODU men’s hoops team, they certainly enjoyed some Southern Hospitality this past week.

The Monarchs completed a sweep of their southern road trip on Saturday, working overtime to come away with a 71-63 victory over South Alabama to improve to 4-1 in league play.

ODU rode the backs of Sean Durugordon and Robert Davis. Jr, who combined for 52 of the Monarchs’ 71 -points on the night.

Durugordon had a career performance, leading the way in scoring with 27 points on, while also grabbing a career high 18 rebounds. Eight of the 18 rebounds were on the offensive end.

Davis matched his career high with eight three-pointers and scored 25 along and pulled down three rebounds. Jaden Johnson had eight assists tonight, while Dani Pounds played 36 minutes off the bench and finished with seven points and 10 rebounds.

🔼 Back At It. Just two years ago, she was dominating opponents for the Monarchs, now she’s competing against the best in the world.

Former ODU women’s tennis star Yuliia Starodubtseva made her fifth grand slam appearance this past weekend, taking on #31 ranked Leylah Fernandez in the first round of the main draw at the Australian Open.

She battled Fernandez close, dropping a tough 7-5, 6-4 decision, but has now reached the main draw in five straight Grand Slams and currently sits ranked #100 in the world.
