🔼 Bringing The Thunder. On a day when the ODU women’s hoops program honored its incredibly storied past and one of its all-time greats, the Lady Monarchs celebrated on the court as well, defeating Marshall, 84-82, in overtime.

The Thundering Herd entered the game in a tie for first place and with the victory, ODU stays within striking distance of the top of the league standings heading into the second half of the league schedule.

Simaru Fields made two free throws with six seconds left in overtime to provide the winning points for ODU. She would finish with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists in the victory.

Once again, En’Dya Buford led the way in scoring for the Monarchs, pouring in 21 points, while Simone Cunningham adding 15 points and seven rebounds on the afternoon.

🔼 Ain’t No Mountain High Enough. A huge first half led the ODU men’s hoops team to a hard-fought 75-73 road victory over App State on Saturday afternoon.

Up by as many as 20 points, the Monarchs saw their lead cut to two points, 72-70 with under 30 seconds left, but ODU would hold on down the stretch for the win.

Jordan Battle paced the offense with a season-high 25 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the floor and four made three-pointers. He also made 7-of-9 free throw attempts and added seven rebounds with four assists and one steal. Jared Turner and LJ Thomas followed with nine points each and Zacch Wiggins chipped in eight points.

ODU shot 51.0% (25-for-49) from the field, including 47.8% (11-for-23) from distance.

🔼 Opening Act. The ODU tennis squads opened up their 2026 portion of their schedule with a busy weekend on the courts.

The women’s tennis hit the road and competed all weekend long at the Michigan Hidden Duals along with Ohio State, Xavier and the Wolverines.

The men’s squad split a pair of weekend matches against Georgetown (W, 6-1) and Yale (L, 2-5).

With 11 3-pointers in the road win at App State on Saturday, the ODU men’s squad marked its sixth game this season with double-digit three-pointers made through the first 20 games.
