🔼 Belt Battles On Tap. The perception of Old Dominion football has changed dramatically since the season began just over a month ago.

The media didn’t think much of ODU in August. The Monarchs were picked to finish fifth in the Sun Belt East Division by coaches and the media, and several national publications predicted a 5-7 finish for ODU.

But ODU is 3-1 and is suddenly viewed not just as a very good college football team, but perhaps a contender for the College Football Playoff. The Monarchs haven't been 3-1 since 2014.

And now, a new season begins as Sun Belt conference play kicks off this weekend at Ballard Stadium.

🔼 Hardware Haul. The ODU women’s golf program arrived home this week with a little extra hardware from their trip to the Tot Hill Farm Invitational in Asheboro, North Carolina.

Alina Shchepteva, Puneet Bajwa, and Barbara Car each finished in the Top 10 to lead the Monarchs to a second place overall finish at the event.

For the Monarchs, Shchepteva and Bajwa both tied for third with a pair of two-over par 146s. Shchepteva recorded an opening round of 72 on Sunday and followed it up with a second round of 74 on Monday. Bajwa, named the Sun Belt Women’s Golfer of the Week last Friday, turned in a pair of 73s on both days. Car was one stroke back of the duo and tied for sixth at three-over for the tournament.

🔼 What A Weekend. Not only did we get to celebrate a thrilling Monarch win on the gridiron, a brand new class of ODU Hall of Fame inductees was enshrined in history.

The Class of 2025 included Nick Mayers (Football), Dana Sensenig (Field Hockey), Chris Haywood (Men’s Soccer), Jim Ambrose (Baseball) and Andy Zucker (Strength Coach) entered the hall of fame.

🔼 Three’s Company. Old Dominion Sailing competing in three different states in three different competitions with the team competing in Rhode Island leading the way with a third-place finish.
