📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Ain’t No Mountain High Enough. On a sloppy, ugly weather day in Boone, ODU running back Maurki James scored the game’s only touchdown from two yards out and the Monarch defense allowed just 158 yards as ODU won for the first time in Boone, defeating App State 10-3 on Saturday afternoon.

James’ touchdown was the deciding score, but the ODU defense was the story. App’s 158 yards of total offense was the second fewest allowed by an ODU defense. App had 60 yards in the first half, including just nine yards in the second quarter.

The Monarchs pounded the ground in the nasty weather. Devin Roche rushed a career high 23 times for 101 yards, while Quinn Henicle also toted a career best 26 times, for 88 yards.

🔼 Mountain Men. In front of nearly a 1,000 people at the ODU Soccer Complex, the ODU men’s soccer team put together a thrilling performance on Friday night, taking down #15 West Virginia, 2-1, in Sun Belt action.

This was the first time ODU has defeated the Mountaineers since 1983.

After WVU got on the board in the 28th minute, the Monarchs responded less than four minutes later with a goal from David Chapman off an assist from Jacopo Caprile.

Seven minutes into the second half, ODU would take the lead for good when Otu Bisong took a feed from Caprile and found the back of the net for the game-winner.

🔼 Workin’ Overtime. The ODU field hockey team did a little extra work this past weekend, earning a come-from-behind overtime win over visiting Villanova on Friday afternoon in BIG EAST action with a 4-3 victory.

After the Wildcats took an early 2-0 lead, the Monarchs answered with three straight goals from Serena Langendoen, Sofia Marciano and Lotte Haagmans.

A fourth quarter goal by Villanova sent the game into overtime, and that’s when Haagmans struck again, finding the back of the cage just over three minutes into the extra period off an assist from Marciano.

🔼 View From The Top. After sitting at seven-under par after the first two rounds, Puneet Bajwa added an even 70 in the final round of the sixth annual Evie Odom Invitational to take home the top spot on Saturday at Princess Anne Country Club.

It’s the second time that the fourth year from Mohali, India has medaled at the tournament. As a freshman in 2023, she turned in a five-under 205 to finish as the individual runner-up which led to Sun Belt Golfer of the Week honors.

🔼 Water Works. Old Dominion University Swimming went on the road for the first time this season and defeated Gardner-Webb.

The Old Dominion men's team rolled past Gardner Webb 220-118 in the two-day meet. The Lady Monarchs also picked up their first win of the season with a score of 204.5-131.5.
