🔼 Leading The Way. ODU linebacker Koa Naotala was named a semifinalist for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award.

Compiled by a subset of the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Selection Committee, the semifinalists have all demonstrated a record of leadership by exhibiting exceptional courage, integrity and sportsmanship both on and off the field.

A two-time team captain, Naotala began his career as a walk-on before earning a scholarship. He was a special teams star for ODU in 2023 before leading the Monarchs in tackles with 88 in 2024, earning second-team All-Sun Belt honors.

🔼 Tuesday Triumph. For just the second time in the 56 seasons of ODU men’s soccer, the Monarchs lit up the soccer board for double-digits with a dominant 10-0 victory over visiting Regent on Tuesday night.

Kolby Godbolt, Micah Wayland and Barrett Saul each scored two goals and dished out an assist to lead the offensive explosion.

🔼 Super Sian. ODU’s Sian Emslie has been honored as the BIG EAST Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

A redshirt senior from Canterbury Kent, England, Emslie recorded two goals in a 4-1 win  against Villanova on Friday. She has seven goals and five assists so far this season. 

🔼 Rivalry Week. Bounce back week for the ODU football team is here as the Monarchs get set for a second straight road game, a rivalry showdown with the Dukes of JMU.

Sitting at 4-2 overall, ODU looks to keep pace at the top of the Sun Belt East Division standings when they travel to Harrisonburg for a 3:30 pm Saturday afternoon matchup.

It is the second TowneBank Royal Rivalry matchup of the season after ODU women’s soccer brought home a 1-0 victory over the Dukes last month.

🔼 Three Cheers. Fifth-year Cullen Campbell paced the ODU men’s golf squad with a third-place overall finish as the Monarchs finished seventh amongst a talented field at this week’s Elon Phoenix Invitational.

A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Campbell got off to a strong start with a pair of four-under par 67s for his first two laps around Alamance Country Club on Monday.

He then capped off the tournament with a one-under 70 for a 54-hole total of nine-under 204. Campbell made 16 putts for birdie over the two days for what marks his best performance in his time as a Monarch.

🔼 Regional Run. ODU mens’ tennis is coming off a busy weekend competing against the region’s best at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships in Blacksburg, Va.

Adam Majchrzak was the star of the weekend, battling his way into the quarterfinals, picking up three wins before dropping a tough showdown with the region’s top-ranked player from UVA.
