🏈 NO PLACE LIKE HOME(COMING)

Colton Joseph was still in high school the last time the Monarchs played a home game.

Ok, ok, maybe it wasn’t that long ago, but thats what five weeks away will do to us!

TOMORROW, the ODU football squad returns to Ballard Stadium for the first time since Sept. 14th when the red-hot Bobcats of Texas State visit Norfolk for a tall task and critical Sun Belt matchup.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Home Sweet Home. Before the football squad hits the field tomorrow for its showdown against Texas State, ✌️ other Monarch teams have HUGE conference matchups on the docket TODAY!

First up, the ODU field hockey team looks to stay within arms reach of the top spot in the BIG EAST when the Wildcats of Villanova come to town for a 3 pm matchup.

Later tonight, the two-time defending Sun Belt champion ODU women’s soccer program welcomes the Bobcats of Texas State to town for a 7 pm showdown at the ODU Soccer Complex.

Throw on your blue and get out to support your Monarchs!

🔼 Making Waves. Two weeks into the season and the Monarchs have already piled up two Swimmer of the Week accolades.

This week, it was senior Kiersten Donnelly, who helped the Monarchs to their first win of the season that earned the Sun Belt Conference Swimmer of the Week honor.

Donnelly helped the Monarchs to a victory over Campbell, winning a pair of individual events and a relay.

🔼 One Away. He’s been taking a MLB mound for the past 15 years. 

Now, he’s just one win away from his second career World Series appearance.

Former ODU star Daniel Hudson, a reliever for the Los Angeles Dodgers, has four scoreless outings during this year’s MLB playoffs and after last night’s 10-2 victory over the Mets, Hudson and his teammates are just one win away from returning to the World Series.

🔼 Strong Simone. We marvel at their talents on the court and their success off, but few know how much goes into being a successful student-athlete, the ups, the downs and everything in between.

In recent years, ODU has invested heavily in providing the necessary resources to support those student-athletes in all areas, including their mental health.

Living proof is right in front of our eyes with women’s basketball star, Simone Cunningham.

🎙 INSIDE THE LIONS’ DEN

In episode 3️⃣ of Voice From the Lions’ Den, hosts Ted Alexander and Ryan Parncutt go in-depth with the veteran field hockey duo of Lauren Holbrook and Frederique Zandbergen to talk about their journeys and the team’s success as they head towards the conference tournament early next month.
