🔼 Punching Tickets. The ODU field hockey team had to work some overtime, but it was well worth it as the Monarchs punched their ticket to the BIG EAST Championship thanks to a weekend sweep.

The ticket was officially secured on Friday when the Monarchs battle to a 3-2 double-overtime thriller over visiting Temple.

ODU followed it up with a quick trip up I-95 to come home with another overtime win, this time a 2-1 defensive battle with the Blue Hens of Delaware.

Serena Langendoen was the hero in both games, firing home the game-winner in each overtime period.

🔼 Weekend Work. Playing at home for the first time this month, the ODU volleyball program thrilled the home crowd with a heart-pumping 3-2 win on Friday night over the Panthers of Friday night.

Katie Rakoski had three kills to spur a late 5-0 run in the fifth and decisive set to help the Monarchs grab the victory.

Rakoski finished with 14 kills on the day, while Elisa Maggi continued her stellar career with 19-kill performance. Kate Kilpatrick notched her first double-double of the season with 19 digs and 10 assists.

🔼 Over The Hump. Junior Zach Redding is building quite a resume during his ODU career.

This weekend, the Middletown, Del., native set four pool records to pace the Monarch men’s swim team in a 197-141 defeat of Gardner-Webb, giving ODU its first win of the season.

🔼 And Another One. The ODU men’s soccer team continued to chip away at the Sun Belt standings as the Monarchs earned a 1-1 draw against visiting UCF on Saturday night.

Lewis Rourke scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 24th minute and Michael Statham tallied three second-half saves to preserve the point for ODU.
