🔼 Cat Scratch Fever. Finally back at Ballard Stadium after five weeks away and man did the ODU football team enjoy being back home.

Led by a stifling defensive attack and a potent running game, the Monarchs handed a red-hot Texas State team it’s first conference loss of the season, 24-14, on Saturday afternoon.

With the victory, ODU moves into second place in the Sun Belt East, just one game back of Georgia Southern, who visits Norfolk on Thursday night in a ESPN2 national game.

Redshirt freshman Colton Joseph led the running game with 16 carries for 111 yards and three TDs, while the defense held the Bobcats to over 100 yards less than their per game average and the fewest points scored by Texas State since last October.

🔼 Senior Salute. No better way to salute the seniors than with a W.

That’s what the reigning Sun Belt Conference champs did on Friday night, earning a 2-0 victory over Texas State, who entered the match without a conference loss.

With three games left in the regular season, ODU sits second in their division and tied for second with 14 points in the conference standings.

No more fitting that it was the seniors leading the way as Rhea Kijowski posted her second straight two-goal game, finding the back of the net twice in a five-minute span in the second half to provide the offense.

In goal, Emily Bredek made six saves to earn her fourth clean sheet of the season for the Monarchs.

🔼 World Series Bound! The biggest stage in Major League Baseball is set and the Monarchs will be a part of it once again.

Late Sunday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers completed the series victory over the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series and punched their ticket to the 2024 World Series.

Former ODU standout Daniel Hudson got four outs late in the game, including a huge strikeout of Francisco Lindor, the Mets’ best player.

This is Hudson’s second trip to the World Series, as he was a part of the Nationals’ 2019 World Series Championship team.

Game 1 against the Yankees is set for Friday night on FOX.

👏 BEST OF THE BEST

With nearly 400 Division I athletic programs in the country, anytime you’re recognized among 10 of the best, you’re doing something right.

Last week, ODU Athletics earned that distinction as the Monarchs were honored among 10 Division I institutions as the 2024 Best College Athletic Departments in the nation by Front Office Sports.
