🔼 Preseason Praise. With less than two weeks remaining until tip-off of the 2026-27 regular season, a pair of ODU basketball standouts were honored this week with spots on the Sun Belt Conference Preseason teams.
On the men’s side, newcomer Adante’ Holiman was named to the First Team squad, while Riley Stack earned a spot on the Third Team on the women’s side.
A McAlester, Oklahoma native who transferred in from Arizona State, Holiman did not make an appearance for the Sun Devils last season but was a Third Team All-Sun Belt selection two seasons ago at Georgia Southern. He started 19 of the 25 games he appeared in for the Eagles in 2024-25 and led the team with 16.9 points per game, 81 three-pointers, 423 points, and 80% shooting at the free-throw line.
Stack joined ODU last season from Coastal Carolina. She finished her first season in the 757 with 82 blocks and ranked sixth in the nation and first in the Sun Belt by a +23-block margin.
🔼 Home Sweet Home. Beginning tonight, ODU fans have plenty of chances to cheer on Monarch squads.
It all begins tonight at the ODU Soccer Complex when the men’s squad plays hosts to Georgia State in a critical Sun Belt Conference matchup.
🔼 Super Serena. For the fourth time this season, Old Dominion defender Serena Langendoen has earned a BIG EAST Player of the Week honor, securing Offensive Player of the Week accolades for her performance this past weekend.
Langendoen notched her first hat trick of the season and second of her career in Sunday’s 4-3 overtime win at Richmond. She currently leads the BIG EAST and ranks fourth in the country with 15 goals.
Along with Langendoen, Madison Zalewski was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Zalewski scored a goal in the win at Temple and registered two assists in the overtime win at Richmond.
🔼 Strong Sailing. It was another busy weekend for the ODU sailing squads.
The Monarchs wrapped up competing at the Women’s ACC Championship in Annapolis, Maryland and the Nevins Trophy in Nassau County, New York. The ODU women’s sailing team finished second out of 17 competing schools and the open sailing team placed 12th out of 18 schools.
Navy hosted the Women’s ACC Tournament and Boston College finished in first place with a final score of 151. The Monarchs were only six points off forcing a head-to-head tiebreaker for first place and were 30 points ahead of third place finishers Miami (187).
