📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Shining Star. For the second time this season, our QB1 is among the nation’s best.
On Monday, ODU quarterback Colton Joseph was named one of eight Manning Award Stars of the Week.
Joseph completed 17-of-30 passes for 315 yards and a career high tying four touchdowns in ODU’s 47-7 victory over Coastal Carolina. He also had 66 yards rushing on seven carries, including a 50-yard touchdown run.
For the season, Joseph has completed 81-of-124 passes for 1,215 yards and 12 touchdowns.
🔼 First Impressions. ODU men’s soccer standout Otu Bisong made quite an impression in his first collegiate start.
His two-goal performance in the Monarchs’ 2-1 victory over Coastal Carolina earned him Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Otu has played in five games during his freshman campaign for the Monarchs and has taken four shots in 169 minutes on the pitch. His two goals in one match ranks second highest for a game in the Sun Belt.
🔼 Bringing The D. After a stellar week on the pitch, ODU women’s soccer standout Gry Boe Thrysoe was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week.
The native of Klarup, Denmark has taken a big leap this year. Entering the season with four career goals, she's scored four times through ODU's first 12 games. The graduate student has scored against #19 Georgetown in the first game of the season, one against Maryland, and her first multi-goal performance of her ODU career against Troy this past Thursday.
Old Dominion finished the weekend with a 0-0 draw against Marshall where Thrysoe bossed the pitch and was key to most of the good passages of play during the match.
🔼 On The Brink. Former ODU standout Jared Koenig is just one game away from reaching the National League Championship Series with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The southpaw had a monster year out of the bullpen for the Brew Crew, who are now up 2-0 on the Chicago Cubs in the NLDS.
Koenig has appeared in both games of the series so far, including a scoreless inning in Monday’s 7-4 home win.
🔼 Weekend Work. Old Dominion women’s tennis competed in the Clemson Duckworth Duels, which included three days of play against Western Carolina, Furman, Clemson and Notre Dame this past weekend.
“Overall I feel we performed well this weekend,” head coach Dominic Manilla said. “We were able to secure some key results in singles and doubles. Most notably, Victoria Matasova is emerging as one of our programs top players of which I’m very proud. I’m impressed with our fitness and I’m pleased with where we are at this point in the year.”
🔼 Pleading The Fifth. Old Dominion Sailing competed in three different states in four different competitions with the team competing in Newport News leading the way with a fifth-place finish.
In the Webb Woolum event, Helena Allocco and James O’Leary finished in fourth place in Division B and A Division, which included Jonah Willoughby and Caspian Collett finishing in sixth place.
The Oyster Bowl and Oyster Bowl Women’s event had two teams from the Monarchs in each.
