🔼 Bearing Down. With 10 new faces and only four returners, it’s not uncommon for teams to need time to come together.

For the ODU women’s hoops team, that coming together part is happening in back-to-back wins as the Lady Monarchs opened their 2024-25 home slate with a gritty 60-48 victory over visiting Morgan State.

ODU got 12 points from newcomer Kelsey Thompson, a junior transfer from South Alabama, 11 from veteran senior Brenda Fontana and 10 from newcomer Simaru Fields, a junior college transfer.

🔼 Ticket Punched. ODU men’s tennis standout Connor Van Schalkwyk’s month just got a little busier.

Earlier this week, the sophomore star had his ticket punched as he was announced as a selection to the NCAA Singles Championships later this month.

Along with Sofia Johnson on the women’s side, Van Schalkwyk will head to Waco and Baylor’s campus for play, which begins on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

🔼 Royal Rivalry Rolls Into Town. With just three weeks left in the regular season, the ODU football team knows it’s crunch time.

That crunch time starts this weekend when the TowneBank Royal Rivalry rolls into Norfolk with the Dukes of JMU visiting Ballard Stadium on Saturday at 4 pm.
