🔼 Georgia On My Mind. With two games to play, the ODU football squad is looking to reach the second-highest regular season win total in the FBS era as the Monarchs head south to battle Georgia Southern tomorrow afternoon.
Coming off a dominant defensive performance against Troy last week, ODU is looking for its third straight win against the Eagles and second consecutive in Statesboro.
Kickoff on ESPN+ is set for 1 p.m.
🔼 Hoop Dreams. While the rest of the country is in the beginning stages of preparing for Turkey Day, the ODU hoops squad have a busy menu of opponents on the weekend docket.
The men’s squad returns home tonight for a showdown with Morgan State, before heading north to Philly for a Sunday battle with Drexel and a Tuesday tilt at Villanova.
A Friday matinee battle at East Carolina kicks off a busy next week for the Lady Monarchs, which continues on Sunday with a home contest against North Carolina Central. Following that, ODU hits the airways to compete at Hoopfest in Frisco, Texas next week.
🦁 A LASTING LEGACY
The Celebration of Life and Legacy of former Old Dominion Athletics Director Dr. Jim Jarrett will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. in the Big Blue Room of Chartway Arena.
The event will be at 11 a.m. with parking available in the 43rd street garage off Hampton Blvd. A reception will be held in the lobby of Chartway Arena following the program.
The event is open to the public and attendees are encouraged to wear ODU colors in honor of Dr. Jarrett.
Dr. Jarrett was the Athletics Director at ODU from 1970-2010 and under his leadership, ODU was the first school in Virginia to offer scholarships to women.
More than 90 percent of the student-athletes who attended ODU during his 40 years graduated and the Monarchs won 28 team and individual national titles.
🦁 MONARCH TRIVIA
In ODU’s last trip to Statesboro in 2023, the Monarchs won a thrilling defense battle, 20-17, on a last second field-goal after stifling a potent Georgia Southern offense all day long.
