Before she wrapped it all up, one ODU senior added one more line to her athletic resume over the weekend.

🔼 Hey Now, You’re An All-Star. Growing up, Frederique Zandbergen must have really loved to share her toys with friends.

Throughout her career with ODU field hockey, she was constantly dishing out assists to her friends, including leading the nation this fall with 0.94 assists per game. She earned First Team All-BIG EAST honors this season and over the weekend, she added NFHCA 2024 Senior Team to her resume.

The Tilburg, Netherlands native finished the year with four goals and 17 assists and wrapped up her illustrious career ranked 10th all-time in ODU field hockey with 55 career assists.

🔼 Making Waves. It was a busy weekend for the ODU swimming squads, who had strong showings at the WVU Invitational.

Highlighting the four-day event was Gustaf Hanson, who set a program record in the 100m backstroke on Thursday night with a time of 47.73, which almost landed him the top spot in the event and set a new standard for the Monarchs.

🔼 Class Acts. It was quite a season on the pitch for the ODU soccer squads, who both made runs to the Sun Belt Tournament this fall.

Their successes weren’t only on the field as a combined eight Monarchs earned Academic All-District accolades this season.

Late last week, Ashlynn Kulha, Katie Lutz, Katie McCormick, Riley Mullen, Gry Boe Thrysoe, and Sydney Somers for the women’s team and Karan Mandair and Timothy Ennin for the men’s squad were all named to the CSC Academic All-District teams.

The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Those earning all-district honors required a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 without rounding up and must’ve either started in 66% or competed in 90% of all matches.

In Saturday’s showdown with Marshall, Colton Joseph rushed for 158 yards and two TDs. Its the second-highest single-game rushing total ever by a ODU QB.
