🔼 Marchin’ On. The hunt continues for the ODU women’s soccer team.
The Monarchs sped into the Sun Belt semifinals for the fourth straight season, blowing past Georgia State, 4-0, on Monday afternoon.
ODU got the scoring going early and often with Yuliia Khrystiuk, Gry Boe Thrysoe, Brooke Edwards and Laura Klebek all finding the back of the net in the victory.
Up next is an matinee semifinal battle with ULM at 4 pm this afternoon in Foley, Ala. The two programs have not met since last September in Norfolk, a 1-0 win for ODU.
🔼 Awards Aplenty. Even before ODU stepped onto the field at the Sun Belt Tournament, the awards piled up for the Monarchs.
Junior defender Ashlynn Kulha was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row and six Monarchs were selected to All-Conference teams.
Kulha received a nod on the All-Sun Belt First Team and midfielder Gry Boe Thrysoe was selected to the second team. Four Monarchs made the All-Sun Belt third team: junior goalkeeper Ellie Goodrich, senior midfielder Yuliia Khrystiuk, freshman forward Ashley Economopoulos, and senior midfielder Andrea Balcazar Algarin.
🔼 Ticket Punched. The ODU men’s soccer team punched their ticket to the postseason on Tuesday night, earning a 1-1 draw with #18 Kentucky on the program’s Senior Night.
With the point, the Monarchs secured the seventh seed in next week’s Sun Belt Tournament, which will be played on campus sites this season.
In six of ODU’s nine conference matches, the Monarchs earned a point this fall.
🔼 Opening Acts. The 2025-26 ODU Hoops season is officially underway with both teams battling to the wire, but dropping tough opening night matchups.
The women’s squad fell 58-52 in a defensive struggle with UMass, while the men fell to a second half rally against Miami (Ohio), 87-72.
🔼 Court Is In Session. A trio of ODU men’s tennis players will be quite busy this weekend with ITA events on each coasts.
Zech Hamrouni will represent the Monarchs in singles at the ITA Conference Masters Championships in San Diego, while Hamrouni and Yanis Moundir will compete in the doubles competition.
Sophomore Adam Majchrzak was selected to play in the ITA Sectionals that are held in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He heads into sectionals with a 6-1 mark in singles this fall. Six players from each of the six sections will advance to the NCAA Tournament.
