📈 STOCK UP

🔼 No Place Like Home. The Old Dominion men’s basketball team cranked up its fast break in the second half and rolled past Randolph College, 93-53, Thursday night before a Chartway Arena crowd of 4,411 in the home opener for the Monarchs.

Against Randolph, the Monarchs hit the gas in the second half, expanding a 14-point halftime lead to 40.

It was ODU's most lopsided victory since Feb. 18, 2018, when the Monarchs defeated UTEP, 82-33. ODU outscored the WildCats, 20-3, on the fast break in the second half and 33-3 for the game.

KC Shaw, a transfer from Maryland-Eastern Shore, was red hot for the Monarchs, scoring 22 points while making eight of his 12 shots before heading to the bench midway through the second half.

LJ Thomas, the Austin Peay transfer, added 16, and Jordan Battle, the Norfolk native who transferred from Coastal Carolina, had 15. Caelum Swanton-Rodger, a 7-foot center, had 10 points and seven rebounds in just 16 minutes.

🔼 Fearsome Fivesome. Even before ODU steps onto the field at the BIG EAST Tournament later today in Lynchburg, the Monarchs already have a pile of awards in their luggage.

Old Dominion defender Serena Langendoen was named to the BIG EAST All-Conference first team and Suus Broers, Sian Emslie, Sanci Molkenboer and Amelie Zielcke earned second team honors, the league announced on Thursday.

That group will lead the way for the Monarchs who are set to take on second-seeded UConn in the BIG EAST Semifinals today at 4 p.m.

🔼 Walkin’ It Out. Old Dominion linebacker Seth Naotala has been nominated for the Brandon Burlsworth Trophy, which is given to the top player in the country that began his career as a walk-on.

The Burlsworth Trophy is given to the most outstanding football player in American who began his career as a Walk-On and has shown outstanding performance on the field. 

Naotala has started seven games at linebacker and is fifth in the team with 45 tackles. He has 1.5 sacks and four tackles for loss on the year. 

🏈 More On The Recognition

🔼 Left It All On The Field. The resiliency of the ODU women’s soccer team was on full display in the Sun Belt Semifinals on Wednesday, storming back to within a goal, but ultimately falling short in a 3-2 loss to ULM in Foley, Ala.

After falling behind 3-0 in the first half, ODU stormed back in the final 20 minutes to put two goals on the board and make things interesting, but couldn’t find the equalizer in the game’s final minutes.

The Monarchs still have a chance to make the NCAA Tournament. Going into tonight’s game, ODU had a NCAA RPI of 48 heading into tonight's contest. The NCAA Selection Show will take place on Monday, Nov. 10 at 4 p.m.
