🔼 Phase 10. Now that’s how you put an exclamation point on a season!

Wednesday night in Orlando, ODU finished off one of the finest football seasons in school history with one of the program’s biggest victories ever as the Monarchs rallied to defeat South Florida, 24-10, in the 11th annual StaffDNA Cure Bowl.

ODU finished with 10 victories for the first time since 2016. The Monarchs earned the right to be called one of the best teams in school history. ODU finished with a six-game winning streak.

Quinn Henicle made just his second career start and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. He rushed 24 times for 107 yards and two touchdowns, including a 51-yard TD run with 2:57 left that clinched the victory.

🔼 House Defended. Through the first two months of the 2025-26 season, the ODU men’s hoops team has only played at home four times.

The Monarchs have made each one of those count as they moved to a perfect 4-0 at Chartway Arena on Wednesday night with a 77-68 win over JMU in the TowneBank Royal Rivalry game.

ODU used a 10-0 run to close out the first half to take control of the game over the Dukes.

KC Shaw eclipsed 1,000 career points on the night and led ODU with 22 points and nine rebounds. Jordan Battle scored 19 points with a perfect 10-for-10 shooting at the free-throw line, and Jared Turner finished with 14 points after tying his season high with four three-pointers.

🔼 Story Of The Year. ODU’s football season has been something of a comeback story. After being blown out in successive weeks at archrivals Marshall and James Madison, the Monarchs won their last six games to post the first 10 win season since 2016.

But the individual comeback story of the year for ODU is a diminutive running back named Devin Roche.

In August, he suffered a severe injury that threatened to end his season. Then, in mid-August, Devin’s mother passed away.

The junior from Baltimore returned home to bury his mom, and that isn’t just a figure of speech. He literally had to arrange the funeral, including doing the eulogy, and settle her estate.

🦁 MONARCH TRIVIA

With two INTs in Wednesday’s win in Orlando, Jerome Carter Jr. set a single-season program record with six INTs on the year.
