🔼 Closing Statement. The ODU Monarchs traveled to Arkansas in the regular season finale and closed out the year in record-setting fashion.
Behind true freshman Quinn Henicle (making his first collegiate start) and Aaron Young, ODU rolled to the tune of 406 yards on the ground, setting the single-game rushing record and led the way to a 40-32 win over Arkansas State.
Henicle set the tone on the Monarchs’ first play from scrimmage, rushing 92 yards for a TD, the longest run by an FBS QB this year. He finished with 206 yards on the ground, while also completing 9-of-12 for 143 yards and two TDs.
For the fourth consecutive game, Young surpassed the 100+ yard mark, finishing with 119 yards on 23 carries.
🔼 Sunshine Splittin’. During the break, the Lady Monarchs traveled to Daytona Beach to enjoy some turkey, hoops and maybe just a little fun in the sun.
ODU’s women’s hoops team earned a split at the Daytona Beach Classic to improve to 6-2 overall. They dropped a 70-47 decision to #11 Ohio State, but finished strong with a 64-56 victory over Oakland.
Simone Cunningham led the way in the victory over the Grizzlies, tying her career-high with 18 points and also grabbing 14 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Brenda Fontana and Simaru Fields both averaged 10 points per game in the two contests.
🔼 Three Helpings For Me, Please. If you need help clearing out some food, it appears ODU swimming standout Zach Redding may be the guy to call because he likes his servings in threes.
The sophomore from Middletown, Del. picked up his third Atlantic Sun Swimmer of the Week accolade after winning three different events at the always competitive WVU Invite.
