🔼 Bayou Bound. Now, the real fun begins.

Before heading home for the holidays, the ODU men’s hoops squad is making a business trip to the Bayou as the Monarchs are set to open up Sun Belt play with a road rest at ULM on Saturday afternoon.

Robert Davis. Jr. (12.7), Devin Ceaser (12.5 ppg) and Sean Durugordon (12.2 ppg) all lead the ODU offensive attack, with Durugordon also pulling down 6.7 rebounds per night. Stephaun Walker has emerged as a dual threat, averaging 7.0 ppg and a team-leading 7.8 rpg.

🔼 Hostin’ The Hens. No, we’re not talking about three French hens.

We’re talking about the Blue Hens of Delaware, who will arrive at Chartway Arena on Sunday for a 2 pm showdown in ODU women’s hoops’ non-conference finale.

The Monarchs will continue to look for their rebounding and defense to lead the way as ODU ranks fifth in the country in 3-point defense (21.7%) and 11th in offensive rebounding (16.8 rpg).

En’Dya Buford has been on a hot streak of late, scoring 16+ points in four straight games and currently leads ODU with 12.5 ppg.

🔼 Stretch Run. With just three weeks left in the NFL season, several ODU alums have their eyes on postseason runs.

Rick Lovatto, the most tenured NFL player in ODU history, and his Philadelphia Eagles squad have already locked up a postseason berth and are looking to chase the NFC’s top seed with a 12-2 record. Lovatto will be playing his 138th NFL game this weekend, nearly 30 more than any other player in Monarch history.

Stone Smartt has been emerging for the Chargers, who find themselves in a hunt for one of the AFC’s last few playoff spots. Smartt has reeled in eight catches over the past two weeks for LA. Taylor Heinicke is also with the Chargers, serving as the backup to Justin Herbert. Los Angeles is 8-6, currently two games up on the final AFC playoff berth.

Zach Pascal and his Arizona Cardinals teammates enter the final three weeks just one came back of the top spot in the NFC West. He has played in every game for Arizona this season, mostly on special teams unit. He is the only other former Monarch, with Lovatto, with 100+ NFL appearances.
