👏 WHAT A RUN
After 16 years, 21 conference championships, several firsts, and helping raise more than $157 million, Old Dominion Athletics Director Dr. Wood Selig announced Tuesday that he will retire as Director of Athletics effective December 31, 2026.
“Without question, Dr. Selig has certainly left his mark on the University, as well as at the conference level and across the national landscape,” ODU President Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D. said. “I have been most inspired by his care for and connection to our student-athletes for whom he personally championed innovative initiatives and specialized support, such as dedicated mental health counseling resources and dining hall operations.”

🔼 Grand Finale. This time of year, it’s really about hitting your stride at the right time.
The ODU men’s hoops team appears to be doing just that as the Monarchs closed out its home slate with a 83-72 victory over Louisiana for its third win in the past four games.
Playing in his final home game, Norfolk native Jordan Battle thrilled the home crowd with 27 points, a season-best for the veteran guard. He also added three assists and two rebounds.
Four other Monarchs finished in double-figures with KC Shaw (16), Caelum Swanton-Rodger (15), Zacch Wiggins (12) and LJ Thomas (11) all contributing to the offensive effort.
🔼 Eyes On The Prize. All the offseason workouts. All the early morning wake-ups. It all leads up to this.
The ODU swimming squads have their eyes on the prize as the Atlantic Sun Championships are set to begin today in Orlando, Fla.
🔼 A Happy Homecoming. When your alma mater retires your jersey number, it’s a big deal, actually the event of a lifetime. And that was clearly the case for Ronnie Valentine, the former Old Dominion basketball All-American, when his number 42 was retired by ODU Saturday evening.
As nearly 5,000 fans at Chartway Arena cheered, he held aloft his framed jersey and smiled, fighting back tears. It had been nearly 46 years since he last donned an ODU jersey.
“It was surreal,” he said. “For so much of my life, I never thought anything like this would happen.”
