🔼 WINter Wonderland. Schedule changes. Six-game losing streak. Playing a team that hadn’t lost since 2024.

The deck was stacked against the ODU women’s basketball team, but the Lady Monarchs responded in style, putting together an offensive clinic en route to a 95-88 victory over Arkansas State, who hadn’t lost a Sun Belt game since Dec. 29.

Leading the way was En’Dya Buford, who put together a performance of a lifetime, pouring in 32 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out seven assists.

Kelsey Thompson (20 points) and Simone Cunningham (16 points, 10 rebounds) also played most of the fourth quarter. Simaru Fields added 11 points.

🔼 Big Apple Bound. While it certainly may not feel like it outside right now, spring has sprung and the Boys of Summer are back at it.

One former Monarch has a new home as righthander Connor Overton signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets on Thursday. He’ll join the Mets spring training camp down in Florida this week.

Overton saw time in the big leagues with three different organizations (Pittsburgh, Toronto and Cincinnati) from 2021 through 2023.

🔼 Super Sofia. One thing is for sure, Sofia Johnson is making every last moment as a Monarch count.

After a tremendous fall season, the senior on ODU’s women’s tennis team is off to another strong start this spring with a 5-1 record at the top singles spot and currently ranks #6 in the country in the latest ITA rankings.

🎙️ ON THE MIC
