Well, that slogan may be revitalize for the ODU baseball team this spring after the start to the season that southpaw Dylan Brown has put together.

🏀 THE ROAD AHEAD

It may be crazy to think, but we are less than a week away from the precursor to March Madness.

That’s right, conference championship week starts NEXT WEEK!

This year’s Sun Belt Conference Tournament will have a completely different look and Max with Minium dug deep into what the road ahead looks like for both ODU hoop squads.

🔼 What Can Brown Do For You? Through the first two weeks of the season, it’s tough to find a better start to the year for any collegiate pitcher than the one that Dylan Brown has put together for the Monarchs.

After tossing eight shutout innings and striking out a career-high 13 hitters this past weekend at Charlotte, Brown not only was named the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week, but also the NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week.

In the win over Charlotte on Saturday, he allowed just two hits, issued just two walks, while facing only 28 batters in eight innings of work. At one point in the game, he retired 16 straight batters. Brown struck out the side in the fourth inning and also retired the 49ers in order in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

Through games played this past Sunday, he ranks first in the Sun Belt and second in the nation with 23 strikeouts. He also leads the conference with 2.77 hits allowed per nine innings and 15.92 strikeouts per nine innings and is second in the league with a 0.62 WHIP.

🔼 Magic In The Midfield. Just five games into the 2025 season, it appears junior transfer Alex Kulinski is quite comfortable in her new home.

The Jacksonville transfer has been a spark in ODU’s midfield, helping the Monarchs to a 4-1 start to the year.

After scoring four goals in this past weekend’s road win at Campbell, Kulinski was named the AAC Midfielder of the Week. The Marlton, N.J. native currently is tied for the team lead with 15 points on 11 goals and three assists.

🔼 Holding Court. One thing is for sure, the ODU tennis squads like their home cooking.

After another sweep at home by the men’s team this past weekend, the two Monarch squads are now a combined 9-0 in the comforts of Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

With league play on the horizon, the men’s team sits at 6-4 this spring, while the women’s team is 4-3. Both teams will be looking to defend their Sun Belt titles from last season.

🎙️ ON THE MIC

The ODU Basketball: Keeping Up With The Joneses Coaches Show was BACK for another episode this past Monday at Recovery Sports Grill in Norfolk from 6-7 pm.

Hosted by Matthew Hatfield, the Voice of the Lady Monarchs, he was joined by both Head Coaches, Mike Jones and DeLisha Milton-Jones, who both talked about their team’s games this past weekend and the outlook heading towards the upcoming Sun Belt Conference tournaments.
