Coming off a pair of weekend wins, the weekly Keeping Up With the Joneses Coaches Show is back on the air TONIGHT!

The Coaches Show will be held live on location on Mondays throughout the remainder of Sun Belt Conference play and will also air on either ESPN Sports Radio 94.1 FM or Fox Sports Radio 1310 AM from 7-8 p.m.

🔼 Challenge Accepted. In front of a raucous Chartway Arena crowd, the ODU men’s basketball team battled their way to a thrilling 78-72 victory over Ohio in the second part of this year’s MAC-SBC Challenge.

Leading the way yet again was KC Shaw, who finished with 17 points, while LJ Thomas and Jordan Battle each added 13 in the contest. Big man Caelum Swanton-Rodger had quite down low with 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots.

ODU remains home for three more outings beginning with Marshall on Wednesday, Feb. 11, and Georgia State on Saturday, Feb. 14 before concluding their home schedule on Monday, Feb. 16, against Louisiana.

The Georgia State game is to be played on Valentine’s Day, and ODU will retire the jersey number of former All-American Ronnie Valentine at halftime.

🎥 The Highlights

🔼 Buford > Bobcats. When the team need her most, veteran guard En’Dya Buford came through once again for the ODU women’s hoops team.

Buford’s season-high 26 points led the Lady Monarchs to a thrilling 84-76 victory over Ohio in the second part of the MAC-SBC Challenge on Saturday afternoon in Athens, Ohio.

Behind a career-high tying five 3-pointers, Buford finished with 26 points and eight rebounds, while Jaylen Ponder also scored a season-high with 11 points, in addition to grabbing seven boards. Kelsey Thompson was the third Monarch in double-figures with 10 points.

On the day, ODU made 10 three-pointers, went 18-for-21 at the free throw line, and held the lead for 32:59 minutes of the game.

🔼 Grand Opening. It started early and kept on rolling for Natalie Calandra-Ryan, who scored four goals to lead the ODU lacrosse team to a 14-12 season-opening victory on Sunday afternoon over Youngstown State.

Calandra scored two goals in the first seven minutes of the game to help ODU quickly grab a 3-0 advantage, a lead it would never relinquish.

Lydia Laney was the field general, finishing with a goal and four assists, while Annalynn Pompetti, Eleni Yates and Maria Snyder each added two goals and an assist.

🔼 Droppin’ The Deacs. After facing back-to-back Big Ten foes to start the season, the ODU women’s tennis team switched it up and battled ACC opponent, Wake Forest, on Saturday and Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

The Lady Monarchs thrilled the home crowd in attendance with their first victory of the season, a 5-2 defeat of the Demon Deacons.
