🏀 SHE’S BACCKKKK

It’s been five years since Nancy Lieberman was lined up to become the first female to speak at the annual Norfolk Sports Club Jamboree.
The world had other ideas with a pandemic forcing the cancellation of the event, but now, the legendary ODU alum and one of the best athletes in Monarch history is set to return at the event next month.
The jamboree will be held Wednesday, April 23rd , in the Big Blue Room at ODU’s Chartway Arena. Tickets for the 6:30 p.m. event are available at the Chartway Arena ticket office by calling 757-683-4444.
The sports club was formed 81 years ago and has since held 77 annual jamborees. And while there have been a number of distinguished speakers, including then Alabama football coach Nick Saban and former ODU star quarterback Taylor Heinicke, none has been a female.
📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Holding Court. Knowing that she was entering her final season at ODU, Sofia Johnson wanted to take her game to the next level and she’s done that and then some this season for the Lady Monarchs.
After a magical run at the NCAA Singles Championships this past fall, Johnson is continuing her success this spring. On the year, she’s 19-5 and currently is ranked as the 10th-best singles player in the country.
With another 2-0 week at the top singles spot under her belt, Johnson was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week.
Johnson and the Monarchs have now won five straight heading into another conference weekend with two road tests.

🔼 Grand Opening. No better way to get conference play started than with a clean sweep.
ODU men’s tennis squad did just that with a 4-0 defeat of Georgia State on Wednesday afternoon in Atlanta.
Old Dominion men’s tennis opened Sun Belt Conference play with a 4-0 win over Georgia State on Wednesday afternoon.
The Monarchs started with claiming the doubles point and getting three straight set victories to quickly make work of the Panthers.

🔼 Battle Tested. With renovations going on at the Bud, it was already going to be a challenging slate for the ODU baseball team.
That slate has continued to get more and more challenging as the Monarchs have put together one of the toughest schedules in the country.
Through the first month of the 2025 season, ODU currently has the 13th toughest strength of schedule.
On deck, more tests as the Monarchs will play a three-game set against #22 Southern Miss, making it seven straight games against nationally-ranked opponents.
