🔼 One Down. Last season, the ODU men’s hoops squad rolled through the first three days of the Sun Belt Tournament.

In the first few minutes of Tuesday’s opening round, it looked like the Monarchs had picked up where they left off last season.

ODU rolled out to a 14-0 lead over ULM and held off a late rally the Warhawks to march into the second day of this year’s championship with an 87-80 victory.

KC Shaw led the Monarchs with a near triple-double, scoring 25 points, grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out seven assists.

Robert Davis Jr., who was out with an injury for most of February, tallied 15 points, his first double-figure game since scoring 20 points at Georgia Southern on Jan. 16. Jared Turner added 15 while tying his career high with five made threes, LJ Thomas scored 12 points and Jordan Battle had 10.

🔼 Three Of A Kind. Three seasons at ODU. Three All-Conference accolades.

In her final season with the Monarchs, veteran guard En’Dya Buford earned her third straight spot on the All-Sun Belt Third Team this week.

The Memphis native is the Monarchs’ second leading scorer at 11.9 points per game and has started all 31 games for ODU this season. She ranks fourth in the conference in steals per game (2.23) and has the fourth most steals (67).

🏀 More On Buford’s Accolade

🔼 Ballin’ Out Bowen. In her final season at ODU, Brynn Bowen is making sure to leave it all on the field for the Monarchs’ lacrosse squad.

This past week, Bowen was lights out in goal, racking up a career-high 15 saves in a 10-8 win over Rider.

Her performance against the Broncs garnered her first-ever Goalkeeper of the Week accolade from the American Conference.
