🔼 And Here We Go. All the early morning workouts. All the late night film sessions. All the blood, sweat and tears were for moments like this.
This afternoon, the ODU women’s hoops squad opens play in the fourth round of the 2026 Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Tournament at the Pensacola Bay Center.
The Lady Monarchs will take on 10th-seeded ULM at 3 pm on ESPN+.
🔼 Rollin’ On The River. Never count the ODU baseball squad out!
The Monarchs enjoyed their trip to the River City, scoring four runs in the final two innings and Bailey Matela slammed the door to give ODU a 12-10 midweek victory over longtime rival VCU on Wednesday afternoon.
Will Johnson led a 16-hit attack with a 4-for-5 performance with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, while Zach Leite continued his torrid start to the 2026 season with a 3-for-4 day with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Matela earned his first win of the season after tossing two shutout innings to help seal the victory. He struck out a pair of VCU batters and didn’t allow anyone to reach base. Ben Tanton also threw two shutout innings, entering the game in the bottom of the sixth.
🔼 One To Remember. While the final score wasn’t what the Monarchs hoped for, Wednesday night’s performance by Jordan Battle is one for the record books, literally.
In a tough loss to Georgia Southern in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, Battle lit up the scoreboard to the tune of 45 points to set a Sun Belt Conference Tournament single-game scoring record.
It also tied the ODU Division I scoring record, set in 2003.
🔼 Difference Maker. For the past seven seasons, Jess Livsey has roamed the pool deck for ODU swimming.
It’s a place she felt called to at just the age of five years old.
