During his standout career with the Monarchs, Odell Hodge was beloved by the ODU family.

That love was felt both ways and now, Hodge is back on the sideline at a place that he’ll always call home.

He’s in a position that he doesn’t see as a job, but more of a calling. Learn more about the ODU great’s first season in a new role with the Monarchs.

🔼 Stayin’ Alive. In March, you throw all the numbers out the window, it’s about surviving and advancing.

On Thursday night, that’s exactly what the ODU men’s basketball team did, using a stifling defensive effort and a heroic shot by Robert Davis Jr. to advance to day 4️⃣ of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament with a 64-61 victory over Texas State.

Davis led the Monarchs with 23 points and Sean Durugordon added 19. Freshman point guard Jaden Johnson and senior R.J. Blakney added nine points apiece.

The Monarchs, who have now won three games in a row, take on sixth-seeded App State TONIGHT at 8:30.

🔼 A 20 Piece, Please. We’d have to say that Sarah Murrell is making the transition to collegiate lacrosse quite well.

Murrell and her ODU lacrosse teammates piled up the most goals in a game since 2022 as the Monarchs rolled to their sixth win of the season in a decisive 20-4 victory over visiting Howard on Wednesday.

The freshman from Perryville, Md. native netted her fourth hat trick of the season, scoring five goals on the day for ODU.

Alex Kulinski recorded three goals and one assist, while Sydney Taylor and Callie Culhane both scored two and had one and two assists respectively. Goalie Brynn Bowen came away with six saves, bringing her season total up to 53.

🔼 Academic Aces. Not only was it a successful year in the water for the ODU swim team, but on Wednesday, the Monarchs were honored for their success out of the pool.

ODU standout Zachary Redding was named the Atlantic Sun Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and four additional swimmers, Gustaf Hansson, Bryce Mortimer, Ethan Reiser and Owen Rolph were all named to the ASUN All-Academic Team.

The five Monarchs swimmers on the all-academic team were the most of any team, men’s or women’s, in the league
