Both Tennis Programs Claim Regular Season Sun Belt Championships

Good Morning Monarchs. Clear some space at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center, we’ve got some hardware heading our way.

Not one, but TWO regular season titles were earned by the ODU tennis squads over the weekend. Now, that’s the type of weekend we love around here!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Senior Salute. No more fitting way to salute senior Sofia Johnson of the ODU women’s tennis program than another victory, just like she’s been piling up since she arrived on campus.

Johnson and the Lady Monarchs claimed sole possession of the Sun Belt regular season title with a clean sweep of Coastal Carolina, 4-0, to move to 10-0 against league competition this spring.

ODU will close out the regular season with a trip to Georgia Southern next weekend before the Sun Belt Tournament later this month.

🔼 View From The Top. The ODU men’s tennis program is enjoying the view from the top so much, they decided they’ll stick around for a while.

For the third straight year, the Monarchs clinched the regular season conference championship, this time by sweeping past Southern Miss (5-0) and Louisiana (4-0) to go a perfect 7-0 in league play.

With the victories, ODU will be the top seed in this week’s Sun Belt Tournament in Rome, kicking the action off on Friday against JMU at 10 am.

🔼 Georgia On The Mind. Maybe Evan Holman really likes peaches?

Whatever it is, he’ll take some more of that as the junior delivered a huge outing on Sunday to help the Monarchs to a series victory at Georgia Southern, taking two-of-three from the Eagles over the weekend.

Holman went a perfect 3-for-3 with three extra base hits, including a grand slam to lead ODU to a 15-10 win in the series finale.

Kainen Jorge continued his outstanding season, notching a hit in all three games, finishing with six hits in the four games for the Monarchs.

🙌 FUN WITH THE FAM

Ever since ODU football returned in full, the Monarch faithful have shown that they know how to tailgate and enjoy some fun.

This fall, ODU is hoping to enhance those tailgating experiences with a few new updates around Kaufman Mall.

🏈 THIS SATURDAY!

Clear the calendars, ODU fans.

The Priority Charity Bowl ODU Spring Game is set for Saturday, April 19 at 2 p.m. at Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium.

This annual spring football tradition—free and open to the public—marks the culmination of ODU’s spring practice and offers fans a unique opportunity to get an early look at the 2025 Monarchs. Gates are set to open at 1 p.m.

Immediately following the game, ODU will host its first-ever Fan Field Day, turning the field into an interactive experience for the whole family. Fans will have the rare chance to go on the field to meet ODU Football players and coaches, along with student-athletes from ODU Men’s Basketball and Women’s Tennis. The event will feature autograph sessions, photo opportunities, and on-field activities for fans of all ages—including chances to win exclusive ODU fan packs.
