🔼 Defending Their Crown. The quest for a third straight crown begins today for the ODU men’s tennis team.

The two-time defending Sun Belt Champions opens Sun Belt Tournament play this morning at 10 a.m. against in-state rival James Madison at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia.

A victory for ODU would send them into Saturday’s semifinals, which is set for 10 am.

🔼 Five Stars. Before even hitting the courts at the Sun Belt Tournament in Rome, Ga., the ODU men’s tennis team loaded up their luggage with some hardware to bring home.

Junior Cosme Rolland De Ravel was named Sun Belt Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Year and Dominick Mueller was named the Coach of the Year, while three other Monarchs earned All-Conference accolades as well.

Rolland De Ravel enters the conference championship this weekend with a 20-6 singles record on the year and is 8-4 this spring. In doubles competition, he is 19-4 overall and 14-3 in the spring. Along with his player of the year honors, Rolland De Ravel was named to the Sun Belt first team for singles and doubles.

Connor Van Schalkwyk also earned first-team honors, while Adam Majchrzak and Codie Van Schalkwyk both earned first-team doubles accolades with their partners.

🔼 Showin’ Off. Junior Lucia Gonzalez brought home some hardware this week from her trip down south.

The Monterrey, Mexico native finished with an even total of 216 for the three days, good for fifth overall. Her play earned her a spot on the Sun Belt Championship All-Tournament Team for the second straight year.
