Lace ‘em up, folks, it’s time to dance.
The nationally-ranked ODU tennis programs are headed back to the NCAA Tournament yet again and on Monday, the Monarchs learned their first round dance partners.
The 53rd-ranked men’s program will travel to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to challenge Gardner-Webb in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Monarchs play the Runnin' Bulldogs on May 1 at 2 p.m., and with a win, the team plays either top seed Wake Forest or Navy.
On the women’s side, the 60th-ranked Monarchs will face Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, May 1 in Durham, North Carolina. ODU faces Tennessee on May 1 at 1 p.m., and with a win, the team will compete against Duke or VCU in the second round.

🔼 Midweek Magic. For the third time in the past two weeks, Old Dominion Baseball secured a walk-off victory at home.
This time it was Scotty Young coming up clutch with a two-RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the ninth to deliver the 7-6 victory over visiting VCU on Tuesday night.
Will Johnson finished 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored, and one walk. Efrain Morales went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, Scotty Young finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Maverick Stallings also had a 2-for-4 night with one run.
🔼 Earning His Shot. All it takes is one opportunity.
That’s exactly what Kris Trinidad is looking to prove as the former ODU football standout signed a rookie mini-camp deal to join the Buffalo Bills.
Trinidad was a two-time All-Sun Belt performer for the Monarchs, racking up 136 total tackles, 24.5 TFLs and 15 sacks as the leader of ODU’s defensive line.
🔼 Here To Stay. ODU head men’s soccer coach Tennant McVea is here to stay.
McVea signed a three-year contract extension, announced by Dr. Wood Selig on Monday.
Entering his third season with the Monarchs, McVea has a record of 12-13-10. Last season he led Old Dominion to a 5-5-8 overall record. He spent seven seasons as Associate Head Coach under Alan Dawson, taking over at the end of the 2023 season.
