🔼 Early And Often. The ODU offense got things rolling early and didn’t slow down, scoring runs in five of the nine innings en route to a 12-8 victory at Norfolk State on Tuesday afternoon.

Kainen Jorge led the way with two hits, two runs scored an three RBIs, while Efrain Morales continued his strong season with a multi-hit performance and drove in two RBIs.

It was Jorge’s two-RBI double that sparked a six-run third inning to help ODU jump out to an eventual 10-1 lead on the Spartans.

On the mound, Alex Hunt picked up the win, striking out five in two innings out of the bullpen for the Monarchs.

🔼 Carolina Cruisin’. While the weather shortened their time on the links, the ODU men’s golf team enjoyed their trip to the Tar Heel State this week.

For the third time this season, the Monarchs grabbed a Top-5 finish, earning a second place finish at the rain-shortened Irish Creek Collegiate in Kannapolis.

The two-day tournament was originally scheduled for 36 holes of continuous play on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday. However, due to unfavorable weather, the first day was shortened to just one round.

The Monarchs turned in an 8-over 288 in the first round, then posted an even 280 in the second to end up with a 36-hole total of 568. Marquette went 5-under par with a 555 to win the event by 13 strokes.

Jacob Gunther was the top finisher for ODU as he placed fifth at two-under 138. The senior opened the tournament with a first round of 69 before carding an even 69 for his final lap. Kaijun Ma was next, his total of one-under 139 tying him for sixth.
