🔼 Making A Statement. Entering this past weekend, eighth-ranked Coastal Carolina had won 16 straight weekend series.
That streak ended at the hands of the ODU Baseball team, who won games of 6-3 and 9-2 on Saturday and Sunday shock the Chanticleers and put themselves in prime position for a postseason run.
Offensively, Will Johnson had a dominant weekend, going 9-for-14 with five runs scored and four RBIs. As a team, the Monarchs racked up 36 hits on the weekend.
In the two victories, ODU pitchers combined to allow just 11 hits, while striking out 23 Chanticleers and limiting the potent Coastal Carolina offense to just five runs.
🔼 Reunited And It Feels So Good. Who doesn’t love getting back together with some old pals?
That’s what the ODU Football program will be doing as the Monarchs recently announced a football home-and-home series with FIU, which is set to begin in 2028 in Miami and for the Monarchs to host the Panthers in Norfolk in 2031.
Former Conference USA foes, ODU and FIU played each other seven times from 2014 to 2021, with the Monarchs holding a 4-3 edge in the series.
ODU will travel to Miami to play the Panthers on Sept. 23, 2028, at South Dade Kia Field at Pitbull Stadium. The two teams will play in Norfolk at S.B. Ballard Stadium on Aug. 30, 2031.

🔼 Chart Climber. Former ODU southpaw Ryan Yarbrough is heating up for the New York Yankees.
Yarbrough has now tossed 5.1 consecutive scoreless innings and has allowed zero runs in six of his eight relief outings this year for the Yankees.
He is also on the cusp of some Monarch history. With his next appearance, he would move into sole possession in all-time MBL appearances for ODU alums at 224. He is currently tied with John Montague. With 11 more innings pitched, he would surpass Daniel Hudson into second place for most innings pitched by former Monarchs.
