🔼 Back In The Bigs. The dream still lives on for former ODU standout P.J. Higgins.
At the age of 33, Higgins is back in the bigs for a third season and this week, he was called up to the Cincinnati Reds for the second time this year.
In a 9-4 win in Philly, the former Monarch collected two hits and two RBIs for Cincy.
🔼 Leading The Way. A new era of ODU men’s golf now has a leader.
This week, the Monarchs hired Austin Phillips as its men’s golf head coach. Phillips has spent the previous three seasons as the head men’s golf coach at the University of North Alabama.
In just five seasons as a head coach, Phillips led Cameron University (Okla.) and North Alabama to new heights in men’s golf. At UNA, Phillips led the program to its highest end of season ranking in Division I history, with a No. 100 ranking this past season. He has helped lead two individual golfers to the NCAA Tournament the last two years and a berth in the National Golf Invitational.
🔼 Making Waves. The impact of ODU standout Madeleine Enns goes far beyond the boat.
Enns, a member of ODU’s 1V8+ team, has maintained a 3.9 GPA and studies biomedical science. She has played a role in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee throughout her collegiate career and has been on the front line of championing community service efforts around the 757. With her help, the Monarchs rowing has logged the most community service hours of all the rowing teams in the country.
