🔼 Workin’ For The Weekend. One more win and the Monarchs will earn their spot into the Final Four weekend at the Sun Belt Tournament in Montgomery.

ODU opened the week taking down #22 Troy on Wednesday afternoon and after dropping a matchup with #12 Southern Miss, will square off yet again with the Trojans this afternoon at 4 pm for the right to move on to the final four spots on Saturday in Montgomery.

🔼 The Legacy Continues. Add another line to the resume for ODU great Ticha Penicheiro.

This past weekend, Penicheiro was officially inducted as part of the 2025 class of the FIBA Hall of Fame. It is her third Hall of Fame honor joining the ODU Athletics Hall of Fame (2006) and the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame (2019).

Arriving in Norfolk in 1994, Penicheiro arrived at ODU, where she was a two-time Kodak All-American (1997 & 1998) and Wade Trophy winner in 1998.

Following her time at ODU, she was drafted #2 overall by the Sacramento Monarchs. During her time in Sacramento, she was a four-time WNBA All-Star and a three-time All WNBA Selection. Penicheiro is regarded, by many, as one of the best point guards of all time, ranking 2nd all-time for most career assists as well as steals and leading the WNBA in assists seven times.

🔼 Top-10 Showing. It’s championship season for ODU sailing.

The Division B duo of Marina Conde and Isabelle Kanach led the way by finishing fourth in the division. The pair had five top five finishes included a second place finish in the fifth race.

Up next? The Monarchs will compete in the Open Fleet Championships beginning on Tuesday, May 27.
