📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Bouncin’ Back. After getting off to the best start in his MLB career, former ODU standout Jared Young suffered a major setback in early April with a knee injury and forced to have surgery.
Now, the former Monarch is set to return to the lineup this week for the New York Mets.
Young, who is in his fourth year in the big leagues, was hitting .350 through the first 11 games of the 2026 season before the injury setback.
🔼 Fresh Face. ODU Volleyball Head Coach Fred Chao announced another addition to his 2026 recruiting class as the Monarchs have added Weronika Urbanska, a transfer from Weatherford College, a JUCO in Texas.
She joins fellow newcomers Abby MacMillan, Ashlyn Gent, Erica Duffy, Leilani Lawrence, Avery Thiessen, Emma DiRocco, and Atlyn Proctor.
An outside hitter from Warsaw, Poland, Urbanska became the first two-time NJCAA All-American for the Coyotes, earning Second Team honors in 2024 and 2025. She started 37 matches this past season, tallying 418.5 points with 344 kills, 50 services aces, 20 assists, 199 digs, and 44 blocks. Through 39 matches played in 2024, she finished third in the nation with 594.5 points, was fourth in the country with 489 kills, and 11th with 70 service aces.

🎥 A NEW ERA IS HERE
We are less than three months away from the return of the Monarchs and that first begins on the pitch as the ODU women’s soccer program is set to be the first squad to lace ‘em up for the 2026-27 athletic calendar.
This fall will be the first of a new era as Head Coach Will Roberts and he stopped by to chat with Voice of the Monarchs Ted Alexander an exclusive interview.
