🔼 New York State Of Mind. After grinding in the minor leagues last season, former ODU standout Jared Young made a BIG return to the big leagues this week.
After signing with the New York Mets in the offseason, Young was called up and in his first week with his new club, launched a two-run HR to spark the Mets to a 6-4 victory on Tuesday night.
In 72 career big league at-bats, Young now has three doubles, three triples and three RBIs between his time with the Cubs and Mets.

Former ODU women’s tennis star Yulia Starodubtseva is set to make personal history as she takes the court this morning at the 2025 French Open, marking the deepest run at a Grand Slam in her young professional career.
Her toughest test to date is set for 9:30 this morning when Starodubtseva battles Jasmine Paolini, who is currently ranked #4 in the world by the ITA.
🔼 Setting The Slate. After a historic season last fall, ODU volleyball is set for a new challenge in 2025.
Earlier this week, the Monarchs released its full slate for the upcoming season.
“The 2025 non-conference schedule will be a tough test for our squad, and we are looking forward to the challenge," said head coach Fred Chao. "There will be an even mix of teams we have previously played and teams that will be new to us. With our own mix of returners and new players, we will work on developing our competitive identity that will help us in our conference schedule.”
The Monarchs will host two tournaments and also play in two. Non-conference play will feature matches against teams representing the A10, ACC, America East, Big 10, Big 12, Big East, CAA, and the MAAC. Additionally, the non-conference slate will see ODU take the court against two teams that made it to the 2024 NCAA Volleyball Championship in Fairfield and NC State.
🔼 Come Sail Away. The 2024-25 ODU athletic calendar is officially closed for the year.
ODU’s sailing team wrapped up its season this week, finishing 16th in the Western Semifinals of the ICSA Open Fleet Championships.
The Division A team of Diogo Silva, Allison Volk, Pierce Brindley and Lindsey Kaufmann had a pair of top 10 finishes including a sixth-place position.
The Division B team of Blake Goodwin, Cadence Goodnight and Ian Kissel delivered four top 10’s including a best finish of fourth.
