TGIF Monarchs. There’s no better time of year to heat up than it counts the most!

🔼 Heating Up. With the end of the regular season less than two weeks away, the ODU baseball team is heating up right on time.
The Monarchs used a big first inning to rout longtime rival VCU on Wednesday night, 8-2, to pick up their fifth win in the past six games heading into another big Sun Belt series this weekend at JMU.
Maverick Stallings led the offensive attack against the Rams with a three-run blast and a double, while Kyle Edwards finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored for ODU. Tahraun Hammond also had two hits and two RBIs, while Kainen Jorge blasted his sixth HR of the season.
Six different ODU hurlers combined to strike out 10 VCU hitters on the night with Alex Hunt picking up the win in relief.
The Monarchs now enter this weekend against the Dukes with a possibility of punching a ticket to the Sun Belt Tournament.

🔼 New York State Of Mind. All it takes is an opportunity.
That opportunity came this week for former ODU linebacker EJ Green as he received an invite to join the New York Giants for this week’s rookie mini camp.
Green battled injuries throughout his time in Norfolk, missing 12 games over the past two seasons. During his time with the Monarchs, he piled up 90 tackles, 3.5 TFLs and an INT.

🔼 Welcome To The Family. As we tick closer and closer to summer, we get closer and closer to the return of ODU Football.
This week, the Monarchs added three new faces to the family through the transfer portal.
Safety Kollin Collier (TCU), OL Logan Cox (Kansas State) and CB Zach Hobson (West Virginia State) all signed to join ODU this upcoming fall.

🔼 New Addition. The football program wasn’t the only ones adding new faces this week as the ODU men’s golf program welcomed Heath Stout to the family.
Stout, a native of Brentwood, Tennessee, joins Quin Covington and Vincent Berggren in the incoming 2025 recruiting class for the Monarchs and head coach Murray Rudisill.
Stout served as team captain for the past two years at Ravenwood High School, earning Team MVP honors twice. A two-time individual finalist at the TSSAA Regionals, he posted one Top-5 finish and four Top-10 finishes in elite Junior Tournaments. He also tied for 13th at the 2024 Tournament of Champions at Belle Meade Country Club.
