🔼 Fresh Faces. Two new faces of the ODU men’s hoops program were officially introduced to the Monarch family this week.

Transfers Bubu Benjamin (6-7, Guard, George Washington) and Kylan Howze (6-10, Forward, Louisiana Tech) were the first two new additions announced as part of a seven-member transfer class.

A native of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, Benjamin played his first two seasons at Tarleton State, where he made 33 starts in 54 appearances for the Texans. As a freshman in 2023-24, he scored 62 points (2.8 ppg) with 38 rebounds (1.7 rpg), 16 assists, two blocks, and nine steals in 22 games and 257 minutes played (11.7 mpg).

A Gulfport, Mississippi native, Howze played his first two seasons at Jones College, where he was ranked the 44th best junior college player in the country. This past year at La Tech, he appeared in 25 games and made four starts for the Bulldogs. His 2025-26 totals included 53 points, 56 rebounds, six assists, 14 blocks, and eight steals. He averaged 2.1 points and 2.2 rebounds while playing 10.6 minutes per game and shot 55.6% from the floor.

🔼 Sideline Addition. The Monarchs will have another new face on the sidelines for the women’s basketball program after head coach DeLisha Milton-Jones announced that Asia Williams will join her staff.

Williams will serve as an assistant coach. She is joining the Monarchs after previously serving as an assistant coach and recruiting director of Norfolk State last season. Williams worked on implementing post player skill development workouts for the Spartans along with assisting scouting reports, opponent analysis, and game preparation.

She joined Norfolk State after coaching at UNC Wilmington from 2021-23 as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Williams specialized in working on guard skill development and on-court player development. She began her coaching career at Sun Belt school App State as a graduate assistant coach from 2013-14 before moving to Long Island University as an assistant coach from 2015-16.

🔼 And Another One. For the second time this week, ODU Baseball standout Ben Tanton collected a Freshman All-American honor, this time from Perfect Game.

The honor comes just days after he earned Freshman All-American accolades from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

A right-handed pitcher from Vestal, New York, Tanton earned All-Sun Belt Freshman Team honors and led the Monarchs with a 7-0 record. His other season totals included one save, two shutouts, and a 2.19 ERA through one start and 17 appearances.
