🏈 COUNTIN’ DOWN: 80 DAYS TIL KICKOFF

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of ODU Football this fall. The Monarchs will host
Norfolk State on September 5 at 6 p.m.

After a breakout junior season, redshirt senior Mario Easterly is ready to take it up a notch for the ODU defensive unit this upcoming fall.

Last fall, Easterly led the team with 80 tackles, helping earn him All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention accolades. He also added 1.5 TFLs, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and an INT.

The Harrisburg, Pa. native having played in 43 games over the past four seasons, racking up 140 tackles.

🔼 Setting The Slate. We’ve got more dates to lock in your fall calendars.

This week, the ODU field hockey program unveiled a loaded slate for the upcoming 2026 campaign.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Andrew Griffiths, the Monarchs will host seven home games and travel to Ohio State to kickoff the season.

🏑 The Full Slate

🔼 BIG Addition. The latest Monarch to be unveiled as part of the ODU men’s hoops squad in 2026-27 is quite literally a BIG addition.

The fourth newcomer joining ODU is Zamoku Weluche-Ume, a 6-foot 8-inch forward who spent this past season at North Carolina A&T.

After spending his first two seasons at George Washington where he played in 16 games before an year-ending injury his sophomore year, Weluche-Ume transfered to NC A&T last season, where he made 24 starts, leading the team in rebounds (7.2 rpg) and third in points (11.3 ppg)

🎥 CATCHING UP WITH AN OLD FRIEND

Former ODU baseball standout and current Cincinnati Reds catcher P.J. Higgins joins Monarchs+ to discuss his return to the Major Leagues, the journey of working his way back after several years in Triple-A, and the transition from infielder to catcher at the professional level.

Higgins also reflects on his time at Old Dominion, the brotherhood of the Monarchs' NCAA Tournament teams, and what it means to see so many former teammates reach the big leagues.

In the season opener against eventual national champion, Indiana, Mario Easterly posted a career-high in tackles.
